Before Surgery
Doctors recommend quitting drinking herbal tea, taking medicine that has got the antiaggregant effect, such as aspirin at least one week before the operation. If you are a smoker or drinker, it’s recommended to quit two weeks before the surgery.
Before the operation medical investigations and tests will be done. The operation is going to be under general anesthesia and takes about 2 and a half to 3 hours.
During the procedure
1- Anesthesia
During the surgical procedures, drugs are applied for your comfort. You will be under general anesthesia during the surgery.
2- Formation of Incisions
Operation is started with the necessary incisions. We share this information with the patient before the surgery.
3- Closing the Incisions
Seams and skin closure in the breast tissue are closed with sutures or surgical tape.
4- Results
The result of breast reduction can be observed immediately.
After the surgery
After breast reduction is done, wound dressing and bandage will be applied. An elastic bandage or support bra will be suggested to minimize the swelling and to support the breast when it recovers.
The doctor will give you the necessary information about what you should and shouldn’t do when going back home after the surgery. In the process of healing, patients should follow the recommendations from their doctor. If they listen to their doctors, the healing process will faster.
